Minecraft: How to Install Mods, Maps, Skins and Resource Packs

(and also How to Create a Server!)

This site is a resource for the class given at the 2015 HSC Homeschooling Conference.

I’m not a Minecraft expert, or a “techy”. I’m a homeschooling mom that, through much trial and error, learned a LOT about modding Minecraft. Because I would really like to help people (parents and kids) avoid the countless hours of frustration that I personally experienced learning how to work with Minecraft mods and add-ons, I decided to make my presentation available online, absolutely free of charge, to anybody that might be interested.

ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: in order to benefit from the information given, you will need to have some fundamental knowledge of how to operate a computer — how to work with files/folders, how to access the internet, how to make backups, etc. Other than that, the presentation is designed for the “novice” and covers all the basics of working with add-ons to Minecraft. The presentation is geared toward adults, but if you have a computer-savvy kid, age 10-12 and up, they will probably be able to follow along without much difficulty.

I hope people find this helpful! Please feel free to SHARE! Happy Minecrafting!

NOW AVAILABLE: A video playlist of the entire presentation can be seen HERE. It is divided into 13 modules. If you are a novice, I highly recommend watching them all in order. Enjoy!
